Advertising and Sponsorship Policy

The American Health Assistance Foundation (AHAF) does not host or receive funding from advertising. It is, however, the policy of AHAF to acknowledge sponsorship of AHAF programs by foundations, governmental, or corporate entities. AHAF’s public acknowledgement of such sponsorship is done by display of the sponsor’s logo, slogan, general website address, and/or description of services consistent with the requirements of the Internal Revenue Service of the United States of America. All such displays are clearly identified as related to the acknowledgement of a prior or ongoing sponsorship. All AHAF communications of sponsor’s information are provided only as a convenience to recipients of the AHAF communication.  These communications are limited in scope to content that would reasonably allow a recipient of AHAF communications to understand the name and nature of the sponsoring organization as well as its relationship to AHAF and its programs.

Unless explicitly documented by legal agreement, AHAF is not in endorsement of any product or service provided by a sponsor. In cases where AHAF reports the website of the sponsor, it must be understood that AHAF does not regulate the content of the sponsor’s website and assumes no responsibility or liability for any claims or endorsements made on or linked to from the sponsor’s website.

Sponsors are not permitted to influence the health or any other content of the AHAF website or any AHAF communication. Editorial content communicated by AHAF that originates from an external entity is clearly identified by the primary affiliation of the author. AHAF does not knowingly accept or maintain sponsorships from organizations whose mission contradicts the AHAF mission, or organizations engaged in illegal or unethical practices.

Any information given to sponsors by AHAF is bound by the published AHAF privacy statement.

Per the requirements of the Internal Revenue Service of the United States of America sponsorship acknowledgements made by tax-exempt organizations cannot contain:

  1. Messages containing qualitative or comparative language, price information, or other indications of savings or value,
  2. Endorsements, or
  3. Inducements to purchase, sell, or use the products or services.

Furthermore, the financial level of sponsorship cannot be made contingently on the amount of public awareness that the sponsor will receive from AHAF’s acknowledgement of the sponsorship.

Public acknowledgement of the existence of products or services provided by the sponsor is not considered to be advertising under current IRS regulations.

AHAF reserves the right to edit and change this policy without notice.
