Vice President of Communications & Marketing

Scope:

The Vice President of Communications and Marketing is responsible for developing and implementing the strategic communications and marketing plan. This dynamic leader will develop all communication and public relations programs to build great name recognition and enhance AHAF's position as a resource and industry leader. This position manages a staff of four and directs the communications and messaging for all communication channels.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Elevate brand awareness to increase credibility and recognition of AHAF
  • Create, implement and manage communications and media plan to encourage contributions and position AHAF as a respected resource and advocate for age-related diseases
  • Work with the President/CEO and interact with the Board of Directors to develop the strategic goals for the Department and organization
  • Work with the Development department to design collateral materials and a series of annual fund raising and awareness campaigns
  • Develop communication tools and guidelines for organization-wide use
  • Work with Scientific Affairs to produce public education materials, both print and online.
  • Prepare department budgets and reports. Work with the staff to establish strategic goals, action plans and budgets for individual programs
  • Establish, implement and monitor performance measures to assess the scope, reach and impact of department efforts
  • Hire, train and motivate staff to carry out the mission and ensure team cohesion and effective department management.
  • Advise the President/CEO and serve as a member of AHAF's senior management team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree, Masters preferred
  • At least 12 years of demonstrated success in communications and marketing
  • Experience in healthcare field preferred
  • Superior interpersonal, oral and written communications skills
  • At least 5 years of supervisory and management experience
  • Ability to establish executable strategies and measure results
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment and ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong track record in working independently and as a team player
  • Keen intellect and strategic thinker who excels in a collaborative, collegial environment committed to the highest standards
  • Commitment to the mission and values of AHAF with specific knowledge of the research program, distinguishing characteristics, goals and accomplishments of AHAF
  • Willingness and ability to travel
