Guy Eakin, Ph.D., Vice President of Scientific Affairs

Guy Eakin, Ph.D.

Guy Eakin, Ph.D. is the Vice President of Scientific Affairs at the American Health Assistance Foundation (AHAF). Dr. Eakin leads the foundation's efforts to identify promising and innovative research, and works to ensure continued research progress in each of the over 100 active research projects throughout the world.

Prior to coming to AHAF, Dr. Eakin worked in medical research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, and at the University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. During his research career, he has studied and developed new ways of visualizing complex microscopic events in living cells and animals.

Dr. Eakin holds a Ph.D. in Developmental Biology from Baylor College of Medicine, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Indiana University.

Diane Bovenkamp, Ph.D., Science Communications Specialist

Diane Bovenkamp, Ph.D.

Diane Bovenkamp, Ph.D., is the Science Communications Specialist at the American Health Assistance Foundation (AHAF). Dr. Bovenkamp presents complex evidence-based health and research information and its significance to diverse audiences through written, oral, and electronic communications.

Dr. Bovenkamp holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Vascular Biology Program at Harvard Medical School/Children's Hospital Boston, and continued research in the Division of Cardiology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland.

In addition to her scientific background, Dr. Bovenkamp brings extensive experience communicating science to the public, developed while on the Media Team at Johns Hopkins Medicine's Office of Corporate Communications and as the Director of Science Information and Programs at the Foundation Fighting Blindness.
