Lecture and Discusion

Join Dr. Guy Eakin, Director of Research Grants, American Health Assistance Foundation (AHAF), for his presentation on the most up to date, ground breaking research in the area of glaucoma. Learn about the treatments and possible cures being studied and have the opportunity to ask questions and participate in a lively discussion. AHAF provides grant funds to innovative cutting edge researchers in three degenerative disease areas, including glaucoma. To date, AHAF has provided over 100 million dollars in grant funds to researchers worldwide seeking treatments and cures for glaucoma, macular degeneration and Alzheimer’s disease.

  • Glaucoma is the leading cause of vision loss in the United States.

  • In the United States, there are approximately 3 million people with glaucoma and as many as 120,000 are blind due to the disease.

  • Glaucoma is called the “sneak thief of sight,” because it often has no symptoms until permanent visual damage has occurred.

  • By 2020, blindness or low vision is projected to affect 5.5 million Americans.

 

About the American Health Assistance Foundation:

The American Health Assistance Foundation (AHAF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding cures for age-related and degenerative diseases by funding research worldwide on Alzheimer’s disease, macular degeneration, and glaucoma.
