Community DayThe American Health Assistance Foundation (AHAF) and Asbury Methodist Village partnered to host a special community day on Wednesday, September 22 as part of Healthy Aging Month. Events were open to the public, free of charge and included an age-related disease expert panel focusing on cutting edge research on Alzheimer’s disease, glaucoma and macular degeneration, and a screening and discussion of the independent film Carried Away to bring awareness about these devastating diseases and to share care giving tips. Mini Health Fair and WorkshopsThe American Health Assistance Foundation and the Asbury Methodist Village partnered to host a mini health fair and workshops on Wednesday, November 4th, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There was a macular degeneration presentation by Dr. Jacque Duncan from the University of California-San Francisco, nutrition workshops, and Part 2 of the HBO Documentary—The Alzheimer’s Project, Momentum in Science Series.
