Using search engines like Google and Yahoo, the volunteer will discover websites which are related to our organization's mission. For example: websites that focus on or list resources for Alzheimer's disease, macular degeneration, glaucoma, aging, and age-related disease. The volunteer will input information into an Excel sheet for us (for example, the URL of proposed link, email address for webmaster or information contact, the type of disease the site is related to and contact date).
Also the volunteer will be given a separate spreadsheet that lists all of the websites that currently link to our website. Many of these websites have already been flagged because the description about our organization is outdated/incorrect or the link doesn't work. The volunteer will visit all of the flagged sites on the spreadsheet and un-flag those who have fixed the broken link or updated the incorrect description.
We would appreciate having volunteers that can provide us with 20 - 40 hours of time for this project. Of course, as this is a long-term endeavor, if there are volunteers that would like to provide ongoing support, we certainly would be appreciative.
Skills: It will be helpful for the volunteer to be familiar with the Internet, web searching, Google and Microsoft Excel.
