Ways to Create a Lasting Legacy Through Gift Planning – Will Bequests

One of the simplest ways to make a gift to AHAF is through your Will. You may name AHAF, or one its programs, to receive a specific amount or a portion of your estate. A bequest to AHAF offers immediate and lasting recognition to the individual donor and helps the charity fulfill its mission in the future, which will benefit others. A written Will guarantees that your last wishes will be followed after your death. Remember, you can always change your will, via a codicil, should you decide to distribute your estate differently or to change beneficiaries previously named in the Will. A bequest may be designated to be used for the purposes of “research only.”

Below you will find detailed information on:

Including the American Health Assistance Foundation in Your Will

The American Health Assistance Foundation (AHAF) is committed to fighting age-related diseases through scientific research. To help us achieve these goals, you have many opportunities to give. One of these opportunities is including AHAF in your estate planning.

It is very important to have the proper wording in writing your bequest. There are several ways of including AHAF in your bequest.

Percentage

"I give, devise, and bequeath to the American Health Assistance Foundation, 22512 Gateway Center Drive, Clarksburg, Maryland 20871, _________% of my estate."

Dollar Amount

"I give, devise, and bequeath to the American Health Assistance Foundation, 22512 Gateway Center Drive, Clarksburg, Maryland 20871, __________ dollars of my estate."

Specific Property

"I give, devise, and bequeath to the American Health Assistance Foundation, 22512 Gateway Center Drive, Clarksburg, Maryland 20871 20850, (Description of Property), located at (Exact Location)."

Residue

(Whatever is left after other bequests have been granted)

"All the residue of my estate, including real and personal property, I give, devise and bequeath to the American Health Assistance Foundation, 22512 Gateway Center Drive, Clarksburg, Maryland 20871."

Please note that these forms are only samples not intended for actual use in your will. They do provide the correct legal language for making a bequest, but an attorney should always be consulted when preparing your will.
