No symptoms may be noticed if only one eye is affected or during the early stages of the disease. Therefore, it is very important to have regular eye examinations.
The dry form of macular degeneration will initially often cause slightly blurred vision. The center of vision may then become blurred and this region grows larger as the disease progresses.
In wet macular degeneration, straight lines may appear wavy and central vision loss can occur rapidly.
