Macular Degeneration Research met its FY2007 application deadline. All applications are currently under review with the Scientific Review Committee. As such, we are no longer accepting research proposals for FY2007 funding.
FY2008 application instructions will be made available on this webpage in the early summer of 2007. All inquiries may be directed to grants@ahaf.org

Macular Degeneration Research, a program of the American Health Assistance Foundation (AHAF) invites researchers to submit letters of intent to apply for research grants into the cause(s) of and treatment(s) for macular degeneration. A maximum of $50,000 per year for up to two years of funding is available. Any area of research is eligible for grant support, but potential relevance to macular degeneration will be an important component of the funding evaluation. Collaborative projects are also encouraged.

Letters of Intent must not exceed four pages (11-point size font or larger). Within this page limit, use approximately ½ page to describe your general area of research interest, no more than two pages to describe your proposed research project (this must include a summarized version of the objectives, hypothesis, aims, experimental design, relevance to macular degeneration and a summary of any preliminary results). Any project description exceeding two (2) pages, will not be reviewed. The remaining pages should include any history of past AHAF/MDR funding, current funding you are receiving and any overlap funding pertaining to this proposal.
Based on the evaluation of the letters of intent, the selected applicants will be notified by early September to submit full applications.
