Honest Answers for the Recently Diagnosed Alzheimer Patient

This 43-page booklet clearly answers questions that a recently diagnosed Alzheimer’s patient would have. Issues concerning the causes and stages of the disease are discussed, as well as treatment options. There are suggestions for how to tell your family about your illness and discussions about the primary caregiver, employment issues, and legal assistance. In addition, there are helpful sections concerning support groups, important web sites, helpful books, and organizations to contact for assistance.

 

I'll Be There: Caring for Your Parents, Kids, Job and Marriage

This 64-page book is for the Baby Boomers who are now "sandwiched" between growing children, aging parents, marriage, and their job. Based upon interviews with real people, the book addreses a large range of caregiving issues, from the internpersonal to the strictly practical. While each caregiver's story is unique, all of these stories share common themes — facing a parent's illness and mortality, dealing with siblings who can't or won't help, juggling family issues with a demanding job, and somehow keeping children center-stage to the family drama are just a few.
